Stage hire is priced like most event kit: by how much of it you need, for how long, and how much work it takes to build. Here are the six things that make up almost every stage quote, so you can budget with confidence.
1. Size
Modular stages are built from decks, such as 8ft × 4ft Prolyte LiteDeck or 2m × 1m AirStage. A lectern riser might be two decks; a 6×3m band stage is closer to twenty. More decks means more kit, more transport and more build time.
2. Height
Higher stages need longer legs, bracing, handrails on open edges and more steps. A low conference stage is quicker and cheaper to build than a high festival stage the crowd can see over heads.
3. Indoors or outdoors
Outdoor stages need level ground or packing, and often a roof or truss frame for lighting, screens and weather. That adds structure, ballast and wind planning.
4. Steps, ramps and extras
Steps, handrails, an accessible ramp, a catwalk, drape and skirting all add to the build, and all make the stage safer and better looking.
5. Access and build time
A ground-floor hall with a loading door is quick. Stairs, long carries, late access or a tight get-in window add crew and time.
6. What goes on it
Most stages need sound, lighting or an LED screen. Booking them together from one supplier is usually cheaper than three separate companies, and much easier to manage.
